Update Rules 2023

Hi all!
Do you have any detailed information about manipulation tasks (building instructions) and negotiate structure (Which magnet are you using?)

Cheers Raimund

Hello Raimund:

here are the magnets that we have used:

Hi all,

Do you have any more informative image or drawing of each lane configuration? As the released rules are a bit lag of detailed informations, our team members have been discussing and presenting different perspectives on how the lane changed based on the given name of test lanes and the figures. For example, the “traverse and center” lane, is there any variable width sliding panels or the box at the middle of slope(from last year rules) or fiducial? And especially in the 4th page, what is the figure provided under the real image of negotiate obstacle? Is it the another type of negotiate?

I have attached the figure of traverse incline lane that we referenced in our discussion

We hope you can provide the further informations of these lane configurations to clarify our ideas and end up our imagination

Best regards,

Jirakarn

Hi~
After the rules were released, our team members discussed and summarized the following questions.
We sincerely hope to receive responses or discussion.
1.Do technical challenges require full autonomy?
2.What type is the valve button key and keyhole? Are there corresponding recommended purchase links? Are valve and button using the types released in accordance with the 21 year rules?
3.Will DEX tasks include COMMS?
For example, if COMMS are added to a lane, will later DEX missions also include COMMS?
4.How will the task blocks be placed at each DEX task location in each lane?Do we need to choose the placing heights and combination of different task blocks? May different placing heights and combinations of task blocks affect fairness? There are detailed pictures or demonstrations for DEX tasks
4.What does the cabinet door handle look like in Challange Technology?
5.Are all the doors of the Door lane track closed? If we need to twist the door handle before pushing or pulling the door open? What does the door handle look like?
6. In the task of Avoid Holes, what’s the height of the holes? In what situation is the robot considered to accomplish the taks? (Such as goning to a certain point? Or going through all roads?)
7. What kind of objects will be included in the Mapping Labyrinth? Are these objects real or demonstrated in the images? Are there any examples for these objects?
8. What does the “Map Set 1, 2, 3, 4” in the Mission Form mean?
9.Does the mapping task also need to be combined with the mobility task, and does it also require 10 times START to END?

Best regards,
Team Nubot

Hello Jirakarn,
we are currently scheduling a team leader meeting with more information about each lane.

The “traverse and center” lane will include the fiducial and a sliding panel to change the width of the path on both sides like in your graphic. The path will be restricted to robot width + 10 cm. The blue box in the middle of the slope is fixed-size.

And especially in the 4th page, what is the figure provided under the real image of negotiate obstacle? Is it the another type of negotiate?

Sorry, I have no details on this. Please ask at the team leader meeting.

Best regards,
Martin

1.Do technical challenges require full autonomy?

No, but the radio communication outside the start zone will be severely restricted (details TBD). We expect robots with a high degree of autonomy (supervised by an operator) to be most successful.

2.What type is the valve button key and keyhole? Are there corresponding recommended purchase links? Are valve and button using the types released in accordance with the 21 year rules?

Please ask at the next team leader meeting.

3.Will DEX tasks include COMMS?

No, it will be turned of during the DEX tasks. You can operate with your normal network conditions.

4.How will the task blocks be placed at each DEX task location in each lane?Do we need to choose the placing heights and combination of different task blocks? May different placing heights and combinations of task blocks affect fairness? There are detailed pictures or demonstrations for DEX tasks

The task boards will be distributed around the arena in fixed heights. The number, type, position and height of the boards can not be influenced by the teams and will be the same for all teams.

4.What does the cabinet door handle look like in Challange Technology?

It will be a round knob that does not need to be turned.

5.Are all the doors of the Door lane track closed? If we need to twist the door handle before pushing or pulling the door open? What does the door handle look like?

The door is closed and needs to be opened when going from start to end zone. The door will be closed again by a person after the robot passed through. You need to twist the door handle. The door is a standard european door with a door handle, similar to this

In the task of Avoid Holes, what’s the height of the holes? In what situation is the robot considered to accomplish the taks? (Such as goning to a certain point? Or going through all roads?)

The track is elevated by about 15 cm. You robot has to go from start to end zone without falling of the track fully autonomously and without prior demonstration. Example photo

What kind of objects will be included in the Mapping Labyrinth? Are these objects real or demonstrated in the images? Are there any examples for these objects?

The objects will be disclosed on site. The objects will be most likely a mix of photos and real objects. We will provide examples on site.

  1. What does the “Map Set 1, 2, 3, 4” in the Mission Form mean?

You can only hand in a maximum of 4 maps (as opposed to 10 traverses for mobility lanes).

9.Does the mapping task also need to be combined with the mobility task, and does it also require 10 times START to END?

In the preliminaries, mobility tasks will be separate from mapping. In the mapping maze, you will only receive points for mapping, not for mobility. Since you can only hand in 4 maps, you have to traverse the mapping maze only 4 times not 10.
The finals will also include mapping tasks on the mobility terrains outside the maze.

I hope this answers all your questions.

Best regards,
Martin
